I have done fieldwork in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mozambique, Panama and the USA. The environments ranged from evergreen forests such as the Amazon to deserts in the USA, including savanas, tropical dry forests and grasslands and temperate forests.

In the Americas, most of this fieldwork has been devoted to searching species of weevils, particularly those that are pollinators of palms. In Mozambique, I participated in the first biological survey of the Gorongosa National Park, portrayed in the first episode of the PBS Series Gorongosa Park: Rebirth of a Paradise.

In 2020 I received the “Golden Net” prize at the Entomological Collections Network Meeting for the best “Tale from the Field”. Check it out on YouTube:
